25th Anniversary

The OUS turns 25 this year. We are planning a year long celebration of the success and growth of our league. Keep watching our social media and website for updates on new and events surrounding the 25th season of university softball here in Ontario. We want this to be a big celebration for everyone, and want everyone to participate!

Gee Gee’s to Host

The OUS has awarded the 2026 Championship Weekend tournament to the University of Ottawa. Ottawa was chosen after the York Lions declined the assignment to host the championship weekend. The Gee Gee’s have hosted on a few occasions before, and the OUS is confident that the venue will make for a great site to host our playoff tournament this fall.

Opening Showcase

We are excited to share with the softball community that the Cobourg Angels, and Town of Cobourg will be the host for the OUS Opening Showcase Weekend, taking place September 12th and 13th. This event will feature all 12 of our league teams competing in four cross-over games that count towards playoff positioning. What a great event! Schedule to be released soon.

Badgers Hire Joe Jones

Brock University Women’s Softball announced they have hired Joe Jones as the new head coach for the program. Joe joins the Badgers with coaching experience in the St Catherine’s area. Joe is ready for the challenge of the OUS, and looks forward to having the Badgers compete for a playoff position this fall.

School’s Out Tournament

Laurier and Waterloo Women’s Softball programs helped host the School’s Out Softball Tournament in the Brantford and surrounding areas the weekend of June 26 to 28th. With almost 100 teams participating, this event is the 2nd largest minor softball tournament in the province. Money raised from this event helps support the Hawks and Warriors OUS softball programs.

2025 OUS Season Recap

A Thrilling Year Highlighted by Laurier’s Championship Triumph

The 2025 Ontario University Softball season delivered everything fans have come to expect top level competition, rising talent, and unforgettable moments across diamonds throughout the province. From opening pitch to the championship celebrations, the league showcased the very best of University Softball in Ontario.

This season saw tightly contested battles in both East and West divisions, with teams pushing the level of play and demonstrating impressive depth on the field. Veteran leadership blended seamlessly with emerging star power, making every series meaningful and keeping playoff races alive right until the final weekend. We saw a real balance in skill level across both divisions, with any team being capable of a win versus anyone at anytime.

When the top eight teams took the field at the 2025 Ontario University Softball Championship Tournament hosted in Innerkip by the Waterloo Warriors, the energy reached a new level. The road to the title was intense, but it was the Laurier Golden Hawks who rose above the rest — capturing the championship crown 8-2 in the final matchup against the Western Mustangs. The University of Toronto Varsity Blues rounded out the podium with a strong performance to secure the bronze medal.

Standout performances defined the championship weekend, including the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, Emily Cox, whose poise and power were instrumental in Laurier’s title run. She threw two no-hitters on championship weekend, and the Hawks went undefeated in the games she started on the rubber.

Across the broader season, excellence was celebrated through league awards:

These athletes — and so many others — raised the bar and inspired teammates and fans alike with their relentless competitiveness. We saw many of our teams engage with the community with clinics, watch parties, and more! Our teams raised money and awareness for charities, and provided opportunities for 150 student athletes to play a sport they all love! Community engagement grew in every region, alumni support surged, and the fan experience — both online and at the ballpark — reached new heights.

As we celebrate an incredible season, the OUS extends congratulations and appreciation to every athlete, coach, official, volunteer, and supporter who made 2025 extraordinary. The future has never looked brighter — and excitement is already building for the first pitch of the 2026 season.
