OUS Showcase Weekend Kicks Off the 2026 Season

COBOURG, Ont. — The long wait for collegiate fastpitch is finally over. The Ontario University Softball (OUS) league is set to ignite its 2026 campaign with an action-packed Opening Showcase Weekend taking place September 12 & 13 in Cobourg. Most of the games taking place at Legion Field.

Bringing together all 12 member clubs in one location, the signature festival-style event serves as the official launch pad for what promises to be a fiercely competitive regular season. Over two days, fans, families, and team alumni will gather to watch Ontario’s top university softball athletes go head-to-head on the diamond.

The Opening Showcase format offers a unique opportunity for teams to test their rosters early against diverse opponents across the league. Coaches and players alike have been hard at work through late-summer training camps, eager to set the tone for their season in front of a centralized crowd. Beyond the competitive rivalries, the showcase weekend doubles as a celebration of women’s university sports in Ontario. With all 12 teams gathered at a single venue, the event fosters an atmosphere of community, camaraderie, and high-energy athletic talent.

Following the Cobourg showcase, teams will embark on a grueling four-week regular season schedule through September and early October, competing for top standings and coveted postseason berths. Every inning matters from the opening pitch of the weekend, as all 12 programs begin their journey with their eyes firmly locked on the 2026 OUS Championship, hosted later this fall by the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.
