Coach of the Year Criteria


The OUS Coach of the Year is annual award that is captures a Coach who exhibits the following:

  • Respects everyone who is involved with the game of softball and demonstrates good sportsmanship
  • Provides complete development for their student-athletes
  • Positive Coaching Role Model on and off the field
  • Continues to learn through Coach Education opportunities
  • Demonstrates improvement in their student-athletes performance over the course of a season
  • Shares their expertise with the Softball community


To be eligible for the OUS Coach of the Year Award the nominee must:

  1. Be actively coaching a team (head or assistant role) who is participating the current season of the OUS
  2. Head coaches of all twelve teams will automatically be considered for the award. Assistant coaches will be considered if they are nominated by a student-athlete. The nominated coaches and twelve head coaches will receive votes from a representative (coach, assistant coach or student coach) of each of the 12 teams in the OUS 
  3. Student-athletes are encouraged to send nomination letters for head coaches as the executive will consider coach votes as well as nomination letters when selecting a recipient

Submission Information and Deadline

  • Nominations will only be accepted on the OUS Coach of the Year Nomination Form
  • Nominations will be received by the OUS President during weeks 4 and 5 of the season (information regarding this will be published on OUS website and social media sites) 
  • Team votes will be submitted to the Vice-President
  • Nominations must include the following:
    • Coach’s Name
    • Name and contact information of the nominating individual/group
    • Record of nominee’s coaching experience
    • Record of Coaching achievements/ student-athlete progress within the OUS
    • Coach’s role in developing and improving sport, coaching athletes within their school/OUS league
    • Personal Highlights

Deadlines for the OUS Coach of the Year will change yearly based the league’s schedule. 

The winner will be announced at the OUS Provincial Championship Banquet.

A listing of the OUS Coach of the Year will be posted on and will display previous winners.


The recipient of the OUS Coach of the Year will receive a take-away plaque/framed certificate.
