Guelph (6-4) v Western (5-3)
Both teams played Friday night, and the opposite sides of the coin for each. Guelph lost both on the road to Laurier, including a walk-off in game one, and a blow-out in game 2. Western swept McMaster in London Friday, winning both games comfortably. The Mustangs can take over Guelph in the standings with a series sweep Saturday. The Gryphons will look to not lose all their good momentum from a week ago, in the tough western division.
Laurier (9-1) v Brock (6-2)
Two teams in the west with only three losses between them meet in St Catherine’s Saturday. Laurier following a sweep at home Friday looks to distance themselves from the rest of the west with a good performance vs Brock. Maryn Partridge improved to 5-0 on the mound this season Friday, and she likely will face Ashylnn Lantz who has looked solid on the mound for Brock. Big series in St Catherine’s make sure to show your support for either side.
McMaster (1-9) v Windsor (3-3)
McMaster continues it’s road trip Saturday afternoon down at Mic Mac Park in Windsor. The playoff picture is fading for the Hamilton based squad, but wins Saturday and some help in some other series can keep the Marauders hopes alive. Windsor hasn’t played in a full 7-days since the series vs Laurier in Dutton. Lancers are in a similar boat to their opponent as they need wins to stay in the mix for playoff positions in the west. With games in hand, Windsor needs to make the most of their schedule.
Queen’s (4-4) v Waterloo (2-6)
Waterloo hosts Queen’s in a repeat of a series that happened last week. The Gaels took the opener last week behind a no-hitter from Maddy Hickingbottom, while the Warriors saved the series with some great defense in the 2nd game to get the split. These games will be played in St Agatha which is about 10 minutes north of the Waterloo campus. Waterloo sits tied for 4th with York after 2 weeks, and if they play well Saturday could be right alongside some of the others in the east as well.
Ottawa (6-2) v TMU (1-7)
TMU hosts the Gee Gees Saturday at Hendon Park. Ottawa was a perfect 4-0 in week 2, and is the east division leader as of the start of play Saturday. Ottawa has gotten timely hits, and solid pitching to lead the east and will look to keep that going Saturday in North York. TMU earned their 1st win last weekend, and will aim for another or two Saturday at the expense of the Gee Gees.
York (2-6) v Toronto (5-3)
Battle of two greater Toronto programs takes place Saturday at Hendon Park, alongside the series above the Varsity Blues welcome the York Lions to the diamond. Toronto will be aiming to continue their hot streak and challenge Ottawa for the top spot in the East. York has a tough schedule, and it is showcased with Saturday games at Toronto and then home Sunday to face division leader Ottawa. Both sides welcome fan support, first pitch is 2pm.
