Brock Hires Joe Jones as New Softball Coach

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Brock Softball has announced the appointment of Joe Jones as the program’s new head coach, ushering in a new chapter for the Badgers as they prepare for the upcoming Ontario University Softball season.

A proud St Catherine’s native, Jones brings a wealth of local softball knowledge and coaching experience to the role. He has spent several years developing athletes within the St Catherine’s Storm organization, earning a reputation for his commitment to player development, strong leadership, and passion for the game.

Jones has worked with athletes across multiple age groups, helping players refine their skills while fostering a competitive and supportive team culture. His experience with one of the region’s premier minor softball organizations has prepared him to make the transition to the university level, where he will guide Brock’s student-athletes both on and off the field.

“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead Brock Softball,” said Jones. “As someone who grew up in St. Catharines, it’s an honour to have the chance to coach at my hometown university. I look forward to building on the program’s foundation, helping our student-athletes reach their full potential, and competing for championships.”

Brock Athletics expressed confidence that Jones’ experience within the local softball community and his player-first approach make him an excellent fit to lead the program into its next era. The appointment also strengthens the connection between Brock Softball and the Niagara softball community, creating a pathway for aspiring student-athletes who have developed through local programs such as the St. Catharines Storm.

With preparations for the upcoming season already underway, Jones will begin working with the Badgers as the program sets its sights on competing among the top teams in the Ontario University Softball league.
