Saturday and a full slate of games in the OUS…
Waterloo (3-9) vs York (4-7)
With the postseason picture starting to take shape, today’s doubleheader between the Waterloo Warriors and the York Lions could have major implications for both teams’ playoff hopes. The Lions hold the upper hand, having swept the Warriors in their two previous meetings this season. York’s pitching staff threw a shut-out in one game, while their offense capitalized on key opportunities. However, with playoff pressure rising, anything can happen when these teams meet again.
For Waterloo, this is a must-win situation. Sitting just outside the playoff cutoff, they need to take at least one game—ideally both—to stay in contention. A sweep by York could potentially end Waterloo’s postseason aspirations. York, meanwhile, is looking to solidify its position in the top half of the standings. A sweep today could punch their ticket to the playoffs or even improve their seeding.
TMU (3-8) vs Toronto (12-0)
It’s a classic showdown today as the undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues (12-0) host the TMU Bold, who are battling to keep their playoff hopes alive. With one team chasing perfection and the other fighting for survival, expect a high-stakes, high-intensity matchup.
The Varsity Blues have been dominant all season, sitting atop the standings with a flawless 12-0 record. Their combination of elite pitching, disciplined hitting, and solid defense has made them the team everyone is chasing—and no one has caught. They took two games Friday in Waterloo to keep the streak alive, and now play a home series vs TMU.
For the TMU Bold, the mission is simple: win. Sitting just outside the playoff picture, every game matters—and none more than these. A win over the undefeated Blues wouldn’t just help in the standings, it would be a massive momentum boost heading into the final stretch of the season.
Queen’s (7-5) vs Ottawa (6-6)
With just a few games remaining in the regular season, every pitch matters—and today’s doubleheader between the Ottawa Gee-Gees (6-6) and the Queen’s Gaels (7-5) could go a long way in shaping the playoff bracket. Both teams remain in striking distance of a top playoff seed but are trailing the undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues.
Queen’s a sweep would solidify their position as a top-two team and give them some breathing room ahead of the final weekend. Ottawa (6-6) at .500, the Gee-Gees have to keep winning, in case those behind them get hot. A strong showing at home could vault them past Queen’s in the standings—and prove they’re not to be underestimated come postseason.
These teams meet again tomorrow in Napanee.
Brock (4-8) vs McMaster (3-9)
It’s crunch time in the OUS Western Division, and today’s doubleheader between the Brock Badgers (4-8) and the McMaster Marauders (3-9) could very well determine who keeps their postseason hopes alive—and who’s on the outside looking in. With both teams sitting near the bottom of the standings, every inning matters. A sweep by either side would provide a massive boost in the playoff race, while a split may not be enough for either to gain serious ground.
Brock a sweep would push them to close to .500 in the division and put them right back in the mix for the final playoff spot. They’ve been inconsistent but dangerous, especially when their bats come alive early. McMaster it’s do-or-die territory for the Marauders. Playing at home gives them an edge, but they’ll need a full team effort today in Hamilton.
Guelph (4-8) vs Windsor (6-6)
With only a few games left in the OUS regular season, every matchup matters—and today’s doubleheader between the Guelph Gryphons (4-8) and the Windsor Lancers (6-6) could shake up the Western Division standings in a big way.
The Lancers currently sit in third place in the West, but with Laurier ahead of them and playoff seeding on the line, they need to keep winning to stay in the hunt for a top-two finish. It’s now or never for the Gryphons. Sitting just in the playoff line, they need wins—and fast. A sweep would pull them even with Windsor.
Laurier (8-4) vs Western (11-1)
Two of the top teams in the OUS Western Division go head-to-head today as the Laurier Golden Hawks travel to London to take on the first-place Western Mustangs in a high-stakes doubleheader that could impact playoff seeding—and perhaps preview a postseason showdown.
Sitting comfortably in first place, the Mustangs are looking to lock up the top seed in the West. A sweep today would all but guarantee it. Currently in 2nd place, the Golden Hawks are within striking distance. A strong showing on the road could shake up the standings and give Laurier a shot at the division crown heading into the final stretch.
