Week 4 Recap

Another great weekend of Ontario University Softball action took place September 29 to October 1st, as our league completed the 4th week of the 2023 schedule. On many fronts there were key games played that have helped shape the playoff races in both divisions heading into the final weeks of play.

In the Eastern Division, there was a big series Sunday, and U of T and Queen’s split the two games, which has allowed the Varsity Blues to keep their position on top of the conference. Ottawa gathered two wins this past weekend to keep place. York fighting for their playoff lives, took the first game Sunday against TMU, but fell short in the second game, which means it looks like it will be Toronto, Queen’s, Ottawa and TMU securing playoff positions this fall.

In the Western Division, the Mustangs clinched first place overall with a 6-0 weekend including sweeps of McMaster Friday & Sunday, and Brock sandwiched in on Saturday. Laurier took 3 of 4 from Guelph, which has put them in really good shape heading into this weekend. Laurier leads Waterloo by 3 games, the two teams meet Friday, before Waterloo then closes the season Saturday in Windsor.
